Business Mission to Guizhou and Yunnan
From 27 – 29 April, NZ Consul-General to Chengdu Alistair Crozier led a business mission to Guizhou and Yunnan provinces.
The delegation included NZ officials from the NZ Embassy, Beijing and the NZ Consulate, Guangzhou, while the business side comprised representatives from Agria Corporation, Biopure Health, Orion Health and Plant & Food Research.
The mission goals were:
a) Engage with senior provincial and municipal leaders in both locations, to convey New Zealand interest in new business opportunities and to introduce / profile NZ companies;
b) Engage in more detail with relevant local government departments and agencies in respective sectors;
c) Network with existing and potential local business partners and other local contacts;
d) Better understand recent developments in both provinces, and the resulting new opportunities for New Zealand.
Biopure signed agreements with business partners in both regions, while the delegation and New Zealand Milk Bar specifically appeared on the front page of the Kunming Daily newspaper.
Overall it was a very successful and expertly organised delegation that met its goals, advanced the interests of NZ and provided immeasurable support to the respective companies in those regions.
Our thanks again to all those involved.
